Job Description Renesas is seeking a Senior Staff Analog Design Engineer to provide technical leadership in the development of complex Power Management ICs and mixed-signal semiconductor products. In this role, you will provide technical direction across major analog subsystems and significant product-level design activities. You will solve significant and complex technical problems, influence architecture and design strategy, and help establish best practices for analog and power-management development. You will work across multiple engineering disciplines, provide technical guidance to experienced designers, and contribute to product and technology decisions from early concept through silicon validation and production. Responsibilities - Serve as a domain expert and technical leader for complex analog and power-management IC development. - Lead architecture and design strategy for major analog subsystems and significant portions of PMIC or mixed-signal products. - Translate customer, product, and system requirements into robust system-, subsystem-, and circuit-level solutions. - Lead the design and technical review of complex CMOS power-management circuitry from feasibility through production. - Address significant and unique technical problems involving multiple circuit blocks, disciplines, or system-level interactions. - Exercise independent technical judgment in selecting architecture, design methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria. - Anticipate technical risks and drive design strategies to address potential issues before they affect program execution. - Provide technical direction during design reviews, top-level verification, silicon bring-up, characterization, and root-cause investigation. - Partner with System Architecture, Digital Design, Verification, Layout, Applications, DFT, Test, and Product Engineering to resolve cross-functional technical challenges. - Drive improvements in analog design methodologies, reusable IP, verification strategy, and engineering best practices. - Provide technical guidance, feedback, and solutions to engineers working across multiple projects and technical areas. - Mentor analog designers and contribute to the development of technical capability across the engineering organization. - Influence product and technical decisions through engineering judgment, domain expertise, and broad understanding of power-management design. - Represent the analog-design organization in customer-facing technical discussions and RFQ activities as appropriate. - Contribute to future product concepts and technical direction based on customer requirements, emerging technologies, and lessons learned from current products. Qualifications - Extensive experience in analog or mixed-signal integrated circuit design with demonstrated domain expertise. - Deep expertise in CMOS analog circuit design, simulation, verification, layout considerations, and silicon behavior. - Significant experience with power-management ICs or closely related mixed-signal products. - Demonstrated success leading technically complex IC designs from concept and architecture through silicon and production. - Experience resolving significant cross-block or system-level analog-design problems. - Ability to establish technical approaches where precedent or available information may be limited. - Demonstrated ability to influence technical decisions across multiple engineering disciplines. - Experience leading design reviews and providing technical direction to experienced engineers. - Strong understanding of silicon characterization, debugging, verification, qualification, and production considerations. - Experience developing technical methodologies, reusable IP, or engineering best practices. - Strong written, verbal, presentation, and customer-facing technical communication skills. - Ability to operate effectively across global and multidisciplinary engineering organizations. Preferred Qualifications - Deep expertise in one or more areas of PMIC or power-management design such as DC/DC conversion, LDOs, charger circuits, voltage and current references, control loops, power sequencing, or related analog functions. - Experience with system-level PMIC architecture or multiple interacting power rails. - Experience developing reusable circuit IP or organization-level design methodologies. - Experience with automotive, industrial, or other high-reliability semiconductor products. - Experience mentoring and developing other experienced technical engineers. - Experience supporting customer-facing technical discussions or complex design-in activities. Education & Experience - Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Microelectronics Engineering, or a related discipline with a minimum of 12 years of related experience; or - Master’s degree in a related engineering discipline with a minimum of 8 years of related experience; or - PhD in a related engineering discipline with a minimum of 5 years of related experience; or - Equivalent relevant education and work experience.
