Summary: We are looking for a Product Designer with strong design judgment and attention to detail to join the UniFi Protect team. You will contribute to the complete development of security cameras and connected hardware products, from early concept through mass production. You will translate business direction, user needs, and technical constraints into simple, refined, intuitive, and manufacturable product experiences, while taking ownership of product quality, user experience, and execution. Roles & Responsibilities: - Create distinctive and cohesive hardware products with strong judgment in form, proportion, CMF, detail, and manufacturability. - Own the end-to-end physical user experience, including unboxing, installation, daily use, maintenance, and serviceability across products, accessories, packaging, and Quick Installation Guides (QIGs). - Translate product direction, user needs, and technical constraints into clear and actionable design proposals. - Partner closely with PM, ME, EE, manufacturing, and external suppliers to resolve design and production challenges throughout development. - Drive design intent through prototyping, DFM reviews, validation, and mass-production follow-up. Minimum Qualifications (Must-Haves): - Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design or a related field, with 3+ years of experience developing mass-produced consumer or enterprise hardware. - A portfolio demonstrating strong design judgment in form, proportion, materiality, and detail, including at least one production or production-stage hardware product. - Ability to turn business direction, user needs, and technical constraints into clear, compelling, and actionable design proposals. - Strong hands-on experience with 3D CAD, visualization, CMF, prototyping, DFM, tooling, and production follow-up, in close collaboration with ME, EE, and manufacturing partner Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Haves): - Experience with security cameras, access control, sensors, or other connected hardware. - Familiarity with complex hardware constraints such as optics, sensors, thermal, sealing, IP/IK, motion mechanisms, or outdoor durability. - Experience designing end-to-end physical UX, including installation, cable routing, accessories, packaging, and quick installation guides. - Experience with high-volume, fast-moving, or multi-SKU product portfolios while maintaining design quality and consistency.
